“She was a pioneer of the early all-women comics”
Aline Kominsky-Crumb, whose brilliant “Wise Guys” cartoon appears in the Graphic Details exhibit, gets adoration she deserves in a New York Times Magazine Q & A with daughter Sophie today. Brief excerpt:
NYT: Your mom, Aline Kominsky-Crumb, is also a cartoonist who was part of the underground-comics scene in the ’70s.
Sophie Crumb: She was a pioneer of the early all-women’s comics — “Wimmen’s Comix” and “Twisted Sisters.” My mom didn’t get enough attention or glory, I think. My dad gets too much, and she didn’t get enough.
